Thailand Higher Education Music Academic Network-THEMAN
The second annual meeting for Thailand Higher Education Music Academic Network or THEMAN was held on 28th August 2020 through Zoom video conference due to the pandemic. Twenty-five representatives from music colleges in Thailand were presented during the meeting which was hosted by Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music as part of their International Symposium 2020. There were four meeting agendas which included establishing The Association of Thailand Higher Education in Music Academics (THEMA), a meeting report from Thailand Higher Education Music Students Network (THEMSN), a planning report for THEMSN 3rd Annual Concert (known as SUMHUA concert), and a summary report of Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS) for undergraduate-level music program. Summary from the meeting is as follow
1) The meeting approves the proposed regulation for establishing The Association of Thailand Higher Education in Music Academics or THEMA with minor adjustments to the membership fee and the association logo.
2) The committee and members of Thailand Higher Education Music Students Network (THEMSN) was held in the morning of 28th August 2020 at Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, Thailand with representatives from more than 20 institutions most of which were from the provincial parts of Thailand. The discussion includes THEMSN’s aims and its future activities.
3) The representative from THEMSN’s committee informed during THEMAN’s meeting that THEMSN 3rd Annual Concert or SUMHUA Concert #3 will be hosted by Buriram Rajanhat University in 2021. The concert will explore music from Buriram province which will be preceded by a music leadership camp in order to develop a concert program based on music from the province. The committee will meet on 11th and 12th December 2020 for the concert planning and workshop at Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music.
4) The Thai University Central Admission System (TCAS) has agreed to THEMAN’s proposed policy for allowing prospect students to perform during the Portfolio Admission round which was not allowed in the previous year.
THEMAN will meet once again to finalize the regulation for establishing The Association of Thailand Higher Education in Music Academics in 2021.
