SEADOM CONNECTIONS Vol. IV Issue I_June 2019

Notes from the President

“Thanks to all involved, both organisers and participants, for the momentum generated in Yogyakarta in the congress in March. A particular thanks to our hosts and to our keynotes for providing such a wonderful environment and stimulus for conversations and interactions. Building on that, we look forward to Singapore in 2019 where the dates have now been fixed for March 12 – March 14, 2020.

In the meantime, it is great to see such significant contributions from members elsewhere in the Newsletter here and in particular to welcome the increasingly visible and audible student voices, both at the Congress and in the responses contained here. It has been heartening also to witness the increasing involvement of Associate members who begin not only to attend the Congress but to also to find potential link points through SEADOM for projects of mutual benefit.

Congratulations to those newly elected to the SEADOM ExCo – I look forward to welcoming everyone to come together for our first meeting in August, after which I am sure there will be much more to share.

In the meantime, please enjoy the material contained here and do continue to spread the word of developments in music across Southeast Asia. Sharing the advocacy is of course invaluable for us all!

Best wishes

Bernard”
SEADOM President

Notes from the Chief Executive

Greetings from hot Bangkok!  We are finishing our summer session here, and I was thinking of the wonderful gathering we enjoyed in March at the SEADOM Congress in Yogyakarta.  What a fantastic gathering full of interesting discussion and ideas!  Huge thanks to the organizing committee from Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta for their hosting of SEADOM 2019.  A tremendous thank you as well to our Executive Council member Dr. Citra Aryandari who did a great deal of work to help make everything run smooth.  The support of the SEADOM office team was also vital to the success and I am very grateful for their hard work.

Coming out of the Congress – we look to continue building momentum with support for SEAMEX 2019 taking place from September 6-8, 2019 at the Yogyakarta National Museum.  For more information please visit the SEAMEX website (https://seamex2019.com/).

Many are planning their summer programs – but as you consider those activities – take a moment to visit the SEADOM website and share any international events or activities that you are organizing with our other members.  We are a sharing platform and look forward to learning about everyone’s efforts in music training.

Best regards,

Joe Bowman
Executive Director - SEADOM
